deliver：「活躍する、期待に応える」

「～を配達する」という意味を持つdeliver だが、「期待されているものを届ける」という連想から上記の意味となり、This smartphone delivers.（このスマートフォンは期待通りの性能だ）のように用いる。また、deliver の本来の意味「～を手放す」から、「（演説などを）する」、「（子供を）産む」などを表すことも押さえておこう。
